YouTube video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=08F9zY...

An animation that I never finished the background of
I referenced a video clip of a hovering barn owl, but since reality is unrealistic I added more frames to slow it down. Playing it at the speed it's supposed to be just looks silly. Owls are ridiculous.
But it is cool how they can keep their heads perfectly still.

It's a flash file but I drew it all in Photoshop

the still head in flight truly is amazing to watch, the same goes for kingfishers and humming birds, and likely others I've not noticed

Kestrels are really good at not moving their heads too.

Good job on the wings. Just a little critique though, shouldn't there be some (even if minimal) movement in the head?

The tufts of feathers should probably be swaying in the wind, but their heads really don't move (I can't find the reference I used on YouTube, but I saved it on my computer. Would you like to see it?)

Nah that's ok. I know owls have that weird ability to keep their heads still in one spot but it just looks sort of off I guess even if it is correct.
